Why do we like this?

Pip Blom has just announced the release of her debut album, Boat. To celebrate the news the 22-year-old Blom and her energetic indie-rock quartet of the same name have dropped the melodic rocker "Daddy Issues."

The first single from Boat, "Daddy Issues," is also the album opener, setting the scene for what I'm expecting to be one of the albums of 2019.

A hypnotic guitar riff blends with upbeat drumming as Blom delivers honest and direct lyrics for this four and a half minutes of indie bliss.

Boat was recorded at Big Jelly Studios in Margate, UK and produced by Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, Florence + the Machine) and mixed by Dillip Harris.

Boat is set for release May 31.
