More frequent patrons may be noting that I've been featuring a number of look-back tracks lately. This is both due to a lack of compelling new songs on any given day, as well as the fact that I've now uploaded my entire iTunes library onto Google Music, allowing me to stream it from anywhere in the world (the result being a lot of "woah, I haven't heard this in ages!").
Such was the case with this song. When it came up in my library, it reminded me that Pinback's "Penelope" is one of the better tracks I've heard...ever.
Released in 2001 on the album Blue Screen Life, the track now stands as a bit of a classic (nearly a decade old, for those who struggle with math). By definition, that probably makes it timeless. I'm pretty sure that if I'm still alive in 20 years, I'll listen to this track at least once or twice more. For now, I'll do my part by making it SOTD.
