Hot off SlothBoogie and immediately into my iTunes library, I give you this fantastic rework by PillowTalk. A total and complete sucker for anything Marvin Gaye, my first impression upon hearing this remix of "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" was pure audible jubilation.
Compared to the late 60s version featuring Tammi Terrell's soulful vocals, this rework gives an interesting houseified twist with a slight disco kick. Adding some steady beat pressure that surrounds Terrell's sunny vocal crescendos, PillowTalk really seizes the essence of the original workings of this American R&B soul duo. While it may be redundant to compare these two tracks, because let's face it, nothing compares to The Real Thing (ha-ha), just give this track a chance -- even if you aren't a fan of soul.
