Why do we like this?
Sometimes you come across a track and it just absolutely crushes you every single time you listen to it. It might be the lyrics, it might be the arrangement, but there is just something about it that makes you have feelings you didn't even realize you had. The latest soul jerker that I've come across is the newest track "Hiding" from Pianos Become the Teeth.
As part of a split with fellow labelmates and emo enthusiasts Touche Amore, "Hiding" finds Pianos Become The Teeth really stretching the post-hardcore genre. Instead of focusing on the singing/screaming formula that has epitomized the genre for years, Pianos Become The Teeth push the envelope sonically by incorporating soaring electric guitars that slowly and powerfully build up to that point where you're weak in the knees. Throw in some strained, heartbreaking lyrics, and you've got a formula for a powerful track.
You can pick up the split over on the Topshelf Records store, or you can pick up the track for "name your own price" care of the Top Shelf Records 2013 Sampler, with 77 other genre bending emo-inspired tracks.
