Cast your memories back a couple of months, and you might remember my review of "Proxy," a killer single from Australian producers Phondupe. The duo -- who has seen each other in person twice over the past two years, having been based in London, New York, and Sydney -- have not let their lack of face-time hinder their process, and just last week released their sophomore EP, Greenhouse.
The feature track off the EP is "Asena," a darker release than the smoky, laid-back "Proxy." Featuring the vocals of Sydney-based Corinne Shalala, it's a haunting, beautifully produced work that seriously reminds me of that slightly unnerving feeling you get when listening to a Massive Attack record. Their use of subtle samples and rhythms is a standout, and the layering is once again top-notch.
If you're after a bargain, you're not going to get much better than a free download of the Greenhouse EP, which features another two tracks on top of the two singles. Snap it up here.
