Why do we like this?
I think it's totally apt that Soul Clap has remixed a track named "Trying To Be Cool." Of the many, many artists out there, I have a feeling that the two gents making up Soul Clap are pretty damn cool, as their image, sound, and even name suggests.
The French group's original has been paired down to a slowly rolling intro with Thomas Mars' iconic vocals floating overhead. The big giant secret to any Soul Clap remix or original is to wait out their almost excruciatingly long horizontal builds, because when they finally let the beat loose, they typically slay the dance floor. This remix is no exception, so if you have the patience to listen as their musical structure slowly takes forms, the pay off is great -- it's bass, it's dance, and it's just plain, uhhh, cool.
