Gather around, everybody! It's time for a brief history lesson. Today we're going to rewind to Phoenix's debut album United.
Released in 2000, the album marked a departure from the band's historical roots as a back-up band for the French duo Air. Indeed, the underlying hints of Daft Punk, Cassius and Air are undeniably present throughout their work ("Something About Us," anyone?).
Released as the second single (behind "Too Young"), "If I Ever Feel Better" probably serves as the best example of this influence. Its infectiously groovy, upbeat, and hints at the amazing work that was to come down the line.
The good news: Phoenix have been prepping a new album, and have at least 4 tracks completed. The bad news? It was expected to be released a few months ago, but at this point...who knows?
