Simple yet classy. Philco's latest track, out now via Belfast based label Prescribed, is immaculate.
The cut, "Say It Again," features the young producer making incredible use of tension and calculated builds to construct classic-sounding house, which stands up against greats like Oliver $, Jamie Jones, and MK. From the opening few measures, Philco slips listeners sharp percussion before easing in a streamlined groove that's more viscous than refrigerated molasses. It eventually moves into true Ibiza territory: cascading into structured waves of the kind of elation which only comes to you at dance floor at 2am.
Coming from the true underground, Philco has always focused on grooves which pay off with patience and letting go of preconceived notions of what dance music is or should be. "Say It Again" demonstrates this throughout as the true hallmark of the track is its masterful assemblage. Constantly building, never relenting. It continues to reach higher even after it's cut through the stratosphere. And just when it's over, it'll be stuck in your head and continue to bump as the infectious beat buries itself in your soul.
