As the summer winds down, it's hard not to feel nostalgic about all that fun in the sun. Everything changes, and though we wish it didn't have to, change is just nature's way of telling us to push on.
To embody that feeling, Phantasmagoria offers the anthemic, "Summer (Living a Dream)" (

Phantasmagoria (Christopher Jarvis and Lianna Vanicelli) have been making their mark on the Detroit scene with their soulful, lo-fi electro pop and with their new album,
Currents, it's obvious their sound is maturing.
Euphoric soundscapes accentuated by haunting layers of fuzzed out synths and vocal delays, Phantasmagoria's productions are light-hearted, but maintain a somber awareness that darkness exists. "Summer (Living a Dream)" is no exception, as the tonality rises, falls, and morphs like a mood-ring. The lyrics scatter like leaves, as if written in stream of consciousness, and sneak up alongside a suggestively deeper message than their simplicity implies.
It's a feel-good song, but one with defenses, and a poignant reminder that time passes us by.
