Why do we like this?
I'm excited to share that Peter Broderick is re-releasing his debut album, Float. This time, friend and co-collaborator Nils Frahm helped with the mastering of the tracks. What we have here is pure magic, compiled in the form of 10 songs.
Float is one of my favorite albums, chock-full of pleasant piano pieces perfect for winter. Listening to the tracks feels like sitting down to coffee with a best friend: his music evokes warm and strong emotions that linger with you for days. I'm particularly fond of the 7-minute cinematic number "Stopping On The Broadway Bridge" along with the beautifully rendered Hauschka-esque tune "Broken Patterns." They're all masterful, and you can listen to the original set to get a feel for what I mean.
The album will be released in the form of limited edition purple cassettes with bespoke packaging. Fans can view a map of stores that stock the tape on the interactive image website thinglink. As for Broderick, he'll be playing a few shows soon. For those of you in Portland, that means the end of this month with Hauschka. A show to die for.
As usual, keep up to date with all your classical needs via Peter's excellent label, Erased Tapes.
