Why do we like this?
This song of the day is one of my new favorites. If any of you have seen the film Blue Valentine, this track may be a familiar one, but oh, isn't it just lovely? If you haven't seen Blue Valentine, "You and Me" is dubbed the couple's love song and is featured throughout the course of the movie.
From the beginning guitar progressions to the when the lead singer chimes in, I catch myself swaying in my seat and longing for a movie romance. Call me a quixotic sucker if you will, but you can't honestly tell me that this song doesn't strike a chord in you somewhere. Listen to this song while you're driving down the highway and need something cheerful, or listen to this song on a gloomy winter day, either way it will suit your mood.
What is remarkably interesting about this lone track is that the archival label Numero Group (a label that researches, recovers, re-masters, and repackages obscure pop gems that are no longer distributed) discovered the rehearsal tape, labeled only "Penny & The Quarters," at an estate sale in Columbus, Ohio. Although the origin of where this song came from is unknown to the majority, this song can be played at your finest times or your worst times, and should never to be forgotten.
