Penelope Isles are the latest act from the UK to catch my ear. Founded by siblings and duel songwriters Jack and Lily Wolter, the Brighton-based act have just released, "Round," the first taste of their forthcoming debut album Until The Tide Creeps In.
Joined by fellow musicians Jack Sowton and Becky Redford, both who bring their own style and personality to Penelope Isles, the quartet are being touted as one of the bands to watch this year, and for good reason.
There's a feeling of nostalgia and jubilation when listening to "Round," with the lo-fi indie offering held together by dreamy percussion, psychedelic guitar rhythms and the engaging male/female harmonies of the Wolter siblings.
The song reminds me of a joyous time in my life, and anytime you can form an emotional connection with music, you know you're on to a good thing. Be sure you check out their other releases here.
Until The Tide Creeps In is set for release July 12.
