Why do we like this?
Yes. Just yes to everything that this is.
Psych pop duo, pecq, had me wrapped around their baby drumstick after just one listen. The percussion on "Stranger" is something else! And the melody? My gosh, I'm in love. It wove its way around my brain and settled in for the long haul. The mark of an impeccable song in my books...though it's safe to call them cooked...just don't tell the IRS.
Then we move to the meaning of the song:
"'Stranger' is about losing myself somewhere between past and present. Events, traumas, or lies send us far away from a past self, but when you finally arrive somewhere new you can’t recognize yourself there either. The song for me is being stuck in a ghostly limbo disco haunted by memories of an unreachable past."
Ugh, is this not just fantastic? And painfully relatable...though I always imagined my limbo would be suspended in gregorian chants. Safe to say, I'm much happier waiting it out with pecq's "Stranger" playing.
"Stranger" is the first single taken from their forthcoming EP of the same name, due out 15th April.
