Why do we like this?
Back in September, I shared mysterious Londoner PATRÃŒCE's debut single "Smoke & Mirrors" on Indie Shuffle. A couple of months down the line, and off the back of features with the Majestic YouTube brand and a spot on the latest Mercedez Benz mixtape, I am fortunate enough to say that Indie Shuffle has the pleasure of premiering his second single, "Can You Hear Me Dreaming."
The song's defining opening lyrics, "I would rather drown in a glass half full / Than tread water in a glass half empty," sets the tone for the entire song. Shining like a ray of sunlight, "Can You Hear Me Dreaming" captures all the positives in life, channeling them through a range of springy guitars, upbeat synths and towering drums, while retaining a silky, underlying R&B groove that is quite simply irresistible.
The song's stand-out feature has to be PATRÃŒCE's sublime vocals. Gaining comparisons with the likes of Prince and Sam Smith, his vocals contort like a real-life instrument, differing from phrase to phrase before his excellent falsetto soars emphatically high for the songs thrilling conclusion.
