Pastel Caramel

I haven't written for a while, but I thought this track and video from London-based Pastel was super cute, and well worth sharing.

The French-Polynesian artist closed off 2020 in style with the release of his gorgeous album,Cereal, an eclectic mix of jazz, pop and instrumental tracks; all with a soulful undertone.

Along with the album, he releases a romantic, whimsical video for "Caramel," which blends crisp beats, catchy guitar riffs, lo-fi inspired synths and mellow vocals a la Tom Misch.

"It’s hard to put a whole project into words. I still think about my first day in London (home now) 6 years ago, how different I was then to now and how my music has also been a part of that change.

This year has been very difficult for everyone. Different to the year we came into when I started this album. There was a point where I had to decide whether to carry on with ‘Cereal’ or put it on hold until the New Year - I made a promise to myself that nothing would stop me from finishing it. This album has been written on planes, busses, trains, in bedrooms, cities, small towns. Wherever this year took me and my laptop" - Pastel
