Here we are, thinking it’s just another Wednesday when our loves Passion Pit surprise us with not one, but TWO new songs.
Both songs were released on The Wishart Group’s YouTube page -- a new advocacy group founded by Passion Pit’s lead singer Michael Angelakos. Wishart is dedicated to supporting artists/musicians with legal, educational, and healthcare services. According to Mashable, the project is primarily focused on a mental health program. It has been reported that Angelakos has raised $250 million for the startup.
And now: new music.
“Somewhere Up There” is the longer of the two tracks-- running past the six-minute mark. Angelakos’ immediately recognizable, soaring, sugary vocals can be heard over a flurry of beeps, boops, synths, and twinkling noises.
At 2:40, the song abruptly changes course into an airy, slower pace. Muffled voices and missed voicemails trickle in and out.
I need to listen about a dozen more times, but you deserve the right as well. Enjoy, Shufflers!
