A week ago, Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos released a cover of rising LA artist Elohim's "All That Gold," and over the weekend Elohim has returned the favor by taking a crack at Passion Pit's "Hideaway."
Uploading the track to her SoundCloud account, the cover was accompanied by the following message;
"dear passion pit,
thank you for covering all that gold.
this is my gift in return ..
thank you for creating meaningful music."
Taken from Passion Pit's sophomore album, Gossamer, "Hideaway" is a giddy dose of the synth-pop that dominated the post-2010 era of music. Elohim's cover strips the song back to a subtle synth ballad with electronic glitches as she shifts the pitch of her vocals – crooning the heartfelt plea, "Someday everything will be ok."
