I've been watching PARTYNEXTDOOR for some time now. If you had asked me yesterday whether or not PARTY was all hype, I would've said that the verdict was still out. But after dropping four new tracks as part of a PND Colours series, I have to say that I've changed my tune.
PARTYNEXTDOOR's major successes, like "Over Here" and "Recognize," have been buoyed by his co-signer, Drake. However, PND Colours is what it sounds like when someone carves out a space of their own.
Although the series has two features, OVO's resident hip-hop heavyweight is nowhere to be found, and that might actually be a good thing. PARTYNEXTDOOR's morose and sonic style is slowly bleeding out into the mainstream, but nobody nails it quite like the OVO crew (The Weeknd, Majid Jordan, etc.).
"Juss Know" features Travis $cott and takes a page from Drake's book. PARTY croons for an ex over a late night beat. Enjoy.
