Sitting on my balcony on a nice sunny, albeit chilly, day in Berlin, I stumbled upon this remix of Parcels' "Clockscared" by MOGLI.
Parcels is a bunch of talented young dudes from Byron Bay, Australia making chilled out, funky music. And now Mogli has come along and chilled this track out even more, proving that you can never have too much chill.
Surprisingly enough, Mogli, a 23-year-old producer from Düsseldorf, is a relative unknown in the Internet world, with this remix being his first SoundCloud upload. Describing his sound as "organic electronic," he uses a combination of organic and acoustic elements, field recordings, stumbling rhythms and the warmth of analog synthesizers to create this wonderful, warbling re-interpretation of the already lovely "Clockscared."
With relatively clean, untouched vocals "to preserve the beautiful mood of the song," Mogli says, he then takes it into that almost dub-sounding electronic-chill realm, which turns into a wobbling, dynamic chorus, resplendent with glitchy beats and spacey sounds.
Have a listen to the original "Clockscared" too if you have a moment, it's pretty great.
