I've been hyped on PANTyRAiD's release of After Glow since it was first announced. As a huge fan of Ooah of the Glitch Mob and MartyParty, I've been getting low to their dirtyfresh beats since the inception of their collaborative project.
Many a hazy college night was spent drinking cheap booze and flailing around someone's living room to their jams. Their self-titled album? Grimy AF. Superior? Glitch heavy with a healthy heap of bass. And this track sums up everything you need to know about Pillowtalk.
So when the electronic superduo released the single "Wanting Moves," a characteristically aggressive bass-driven track, I was expecting an album full of heavy bangers. Then they released "Six AM" featuring smooth R&B style vocals from Bobby Saint and all my expectations were shattered. Needless to say they've decided to explore various musical avenues on this release, and I'm pleasantly surprised.
Compared to previous albums, After Glow is definitely more tame. They keep it light on the hip-hop samples and glitchy synths, opting for sustainably heavy and gradual percussion driven rhythms infused with industrial electronic and deep house influences.
That being said, for the sake of nostalgia I've chosen to share "Wanting Moves," the heaviest track on the album. It's sure to get you moving. Check out the full album here and catch PANTyRAiD on tour.
