Why do we like this?
Panda Bear's nine-minute teaser is deep, heavy, and echoes with a tribal essence. Last Night at the Jetty, released on December 12, is powerful yet simple, electronic yet folk.
Known in the human world as Noah Lennox, Animal Collective's Panda Bear uses his experimental genius and mixing capabilities to produce unmatched music. As the raw vocals provide background stability to the ongoing instrumentals, the waves of sound in the titled track repeat in circles and imitate native sounds.
This two-track EP is almost mean. Each song leads up to nothing. Each beat leaves me hoping for more. As "Drone" carries on, I wish for a solemn voice to anchor the tune, something before the organic EP is over. While slowly realizing why this song is titled the way it is, abruptly, it ends.
