Notoriously elusive, the guys from Pale built up a following several years ago with a well-received EP before seeming to disappear off the face of the earth. But the electronic duo have returned with their long-awaited self-titled album, and it was worth the wait.
Seamlessly blending myriad influences ranging from 80s synth-pop, Massive Attack infused trip-hop, turn of the millennium chillwave and modern R&B; it's downbeat and chilled while remaining emotionally stirring. "Doing My Time" is one of several earlier released tracks that feature on the record and provides a gorgeous representative microcosm of the sound you can expect. Smooth and subtle beats underpinning softly bouncing synth lines and soulful vocal melodies.
It's beautiful stuff and works even better as part of the album whole. Pale is out now as a self-release. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
