Almost a year-and-a-half since they dropped their debut album Waiting For The World To Turn, Palace Winter return with new single "Take Shelter."
The Australian/Denmark duo of Carl Coleman and Dane Caspar Hesselager have delivered a stunning synth-pop morsel dealing with themes concerning death, loss and mortality. There's something about this track that reminds me of the Editors at their depressing synth best, but either way, "Take Shelter" is a wonderful tune I can't help but keep listening to on repeat. Talking about the track that's taken from their forthcoming album Nowdays, Coleman has this to say:
It started with that beat and Caspar's piano riff which felt kinda urban and like a place we hadn't really explored yet. Then that droney vocal melody just kinda popped straight into my head. I felt the urgency immediately and knew it was a keeper. Some songs are like pulling teeth but this one was like a light-bulb moment.
Nowdays is set for release May 4.
