Why do we like this?
Opening with an effortless haziness that conjures visions of woozy, sun-drenched days, “Veins” is the debut track from London-based Palace.
An alternative blues/rock band who combine "laid back guitars with brooding vocals," their self-description pretty much hits the nail on the head. This track, taken from their forthcoming Lost In The Night EP (set for release on October 20 through Beatnik), could almost be the lovechild of The Smiths and The Antlers, with a hint of old-school Kings Of Leon thrown in.
Husky, crescendoing vocals and some nifty finger work all come into play alongside a steady, road-trip rhythm, making for a piece that feels all at once nostalgic and fresh: a solid debut indeed.
