Painted Palms is back with their sophomore album Horizons, and I sure am digging it. “Disintigrate,” one of the lead singles from the album, is a perfect example of how the psych-pop duo continues to evolve and produce catchy yet complex music.
In “Disintigrate,” various instruments and rhythms are layered on top of each other, resulting in a harmonious yet intricate song that evokes good vibes. It’s perfectly peppy and upbeat, and begs to be blasted from a convertible on a hot summer day.
According to Stereogum, Horizons is the first album in which the duo has been able to work side-by-side in a studio, versus communicating over email as they did with their previous album. It’s pretty evident that this is working for them!
