Why do we like this?
I love a good story about the formation and discovery of a band, and Painted Palms sure has a good one. The band started out as a music project between two cousins, Reese Donahue and Chris Prudhomme, in San Francisco. Sounds normal right? Well it's not every day that Of Montreal's frontman Kevin Barnes will ask you to open for them after enjoying your first EP so much.
This all happened back in 2011, and the duo is now releasing their very first single of 2013, "Carousel." The song name is quite appropriate -- listening to the track, it feels as though you're on a never ending carousel going round and round and round with all the charm and innocence of the world. It's a lovely bit of playful dream pop.
The song is off a 7" of the same name, set to be released on March 5, 2013 through Polyvinyl. Enjoy!
