Why do we like this?

Being the solo project of Pedrum Siadatian -- guitarist of Allah-Las - it’s not that surprising that PAINT is tapping into the same (very much ongoing it seems) '60s psychedelic surf revival as his main band.

“Daily Gazette” is more shambolically laid back and loose than your typical Allah-Las song, but yet so retro sounding you can almost smell the tweed blazer he probably recorded it in.

In the end, it does sound a lot like a mashup between The Velvet Underground and Syd Barrett. If The Velvets were a happier bunch, and Syd stayed off the heavy hallucinogens.

Crossing my fingers that this wasn’t just a one time thing, and that we’ll hear more from PAINT the coming years.
