Why do we like this?
"Hurricane" is the electro pop-flavored fourth single from Aussie songstress Owl Eyes' debut album Nightswim. Much like the UK's Little Boots, Owl Eyes is all about shiny synths, booming bass, and anthemic choruses. "Hurricane" is uptempo female pop at its best; this is the type of tune you hear come on in a club and immediately head to the dance floor to experience the drunken euphoria of shaking your booty with total strangers.
While this is fairly basic electro stuff production wise, Owl Eyes' sparkling vocals are what pushes "Hurricane" above your everyday commercial pop. With not many female artists making headway in the Aussie scene, it's great to see Owl Eyes getting the recognition she deserves, and "Hurricane" is the perfect example of this.
