Why do we like this?

Wait, Osees? I thought they were called Oh Sees! Well, yes. They're kind of known as the band of a thousand names. But their output has been so prolific, at this point, the legendary San Fransisco Rock outfit can do whatever they want.

With the name change comes an aesthetic change. The last few projects have been increasingly abrasive, with decreasing concern for red decibel meters. "Gong Experiment" is in another realm...a psychedelic one. The song is divided into two parts, one being instrumental, the other containing vocals. Both parts are equally warm and contain drums that would make George Martin's mouth water. Moreover, the scarcity of guitars is a welcome change from previous records.

Osees are certainly not the first to go down this lane. However, in classic Osees fashion, they do it just a little better. Knowing their work ethic, there are many more delicious songs on the horizon. Their new album, Panther Rotate, is out December 11th on Castleface Records.
