L.A.'s OOFJ burst onto the scene last year with singles "Snakehips" and "You're Always Good." Now, the husband and wife duo return with their first release for 2015, "I Forgive You."
"I Forgive You" is theatrical and melodramatic in scope, captivating and unique throughout each phrase.
The track opens with rumbling synths and sweeping strings, topped off by acutely terrifying angelic vocals. Like a heavy grey cloud, the tense ambiance finally breaks. Shuffling beats and a deep bass rain down on the melody. I nearly sigh with relief.
Nevertheless, the vocals prevail, as do the increasingly powerful strings; this would sound phenomenal performed on stage with live string instrumentation. The track continues twisting into something equally unsettling and divine until the very last beat.
Keep an eye out for OOFJ's highly anticipated LP Acute Feast, released via Ring The Alarm/Fake Diamond Records on April 21 (which incidentally is also my birthday!).
