If you like woozy R&B jams with incredible vocals then "Existentiality" from 18year-old newcomer Ojikae is a must-hear.
The offical debut from the Italian-Australian is a moody, reverb drenched neo-soul production that only scratches the surface of Ojikae's potential. Talking with Mass Appeal, Ojikae explained the track "represents a stage in my life where everything became clear and I knew what I wanted to do, and that was to write music about the rawest and most primitive of human emotions."
From just an initial listen it's clear Ojikae has a voice for days that runs the gauntlet of The Weeknd's seedy alternative R&B through to Frank Ocean's emotive modern pop output.
Having caught him live this past week, I can vouch for Ojikae's voice. Sounding just as good in the live arena (despite a cold) as it does on wax, he's one to keep your eye on moving forward.
