There’s an unrivalled organic quality to lo-fi music that makes it the perfect platform to present pain, and Oh, Rose have lo-fi angst in bucketloads.
Opening with melancholic guitar strums and breathy, distant vocals, the track initially calls to mind the loveliness of Mazzy Star, but progressively channels the caterwauling, heart-wrenching sounds of Torres and Lady Lamb The Beekeeper with spine-tingling results.
Fronted by lead singer Olivia Rose, the Olympia, WA-based group are unsurprisingly obscure. With three EPs to their name on their Bandcamp profile, this track is taken from their most recent release, That Do Now See, which also includes the made-for-indie-flick“Luke Rose.”
Unaffected, intimate and absolutely authentic, this is truly music to get lost in.
