O.J. Hodding shoots a well respected nod to Phife Dawg, and it's dope.
What I like most about his tune "Naturally" is how simple it is.
The formula, back then, was much simpler. You took a four-bar loop, threw some drums on it and rapped over that production. Hip-hop was more centered on the artists themselves rather than the snares, hi hats, and killer basslines.
This one is simply a fun listen. The piano chords are alluring, and the four bar loop makes it easy to bop your head in unison to while writing, texting or just surfin' the net.
It's a light taste of old school hip-hop through the production and with its minimalist lyrics and flow. But a bit of the new age edge shines through the English accent, with good intent, and makes for a nostalgically fun listen.
