NVDES is the Los Angeles producer that has been showering us in seriously fun and quirky indie pop lately. We've given him a lot of love on the blog for songs like "Don't Fvck Your Neighbor" and "Fela," and rightfully so. His latest single "The Other Side" is a sunny, sexy tune just in time for summer.
Armed with punk influences, funky basslines and neon cantaloupes, this one is infectious and bursting with brazen energy. It's invigorating and idiosyncratic, something I can definitely imagine myself dancing barefoot to at a music festival or at the beach while brandishing a drink in my hand. It's the perfect alternative to trop-house for those that want to turn up the heat and get wild to something a little more unapologetic.
I also love the story behind this one. The producer reports to Fader:
"'The Other Side' is based on a fling with a girl who liked to dress me up in some of her clothes before we would hook up, this song is an attempt to capture the strange and the fun that went along with it."
I think NVDES does a perfect job of capturing that feeling on this track. Check it out and order the limited edition 7" here and get ready to make this your summer anthem.
