I've been hooked on this Welsh artist for years, and I will admit I let out a scream after I found out he released new music. No matter how many new EPs and albums he puts out, his style remains consistent. He’s a true folk artist, some of today’s other icons in the genre, like Bon Iver, James Vincent McMorrow and Sufjan Stevens.
“Decimal” keeps the airy sound he is known for, while other parts grow bolder in a way I haven’t seen before. He can evolve and stay consistent at once, making him an evergreen musician.
Although Novo Amor is from the UK, he tends to get inspiration from Upstate New York. (Like naming his 2014 EP, Woodgate, NY, and writing a number of songs about the area.) As someone born and raised in Upstate New York, it always hits close to my heart when other people find beauty in the region, especially those from so far away.
And the way he finds my home beautiful is the way I find his music beautiful, including this new track. It also makes me wonder what (or where) inspired him this time around.
