Why do we like this?
My first thoughts upon hearing all female act Nots' new single, "Inherently Low," was how much it reminded me of Le Tigre.
Sharing the same love of frenetic guitar bursts and rhythmic drumming, the Memphis four-piece also bring a dash of 80s post-punk and 70s new wave, with lead vocalist Natalie Hoffmann's aggressive delivery helping shape their own identity.
Taken from their forthcoming album, Cosmetic, "Inherently Low" is a fast and furious gut punch about depression and lost, and much like the album, is heavily influenced by the current state of politics in America.
Cosmetic is set for release September 9.
