Distant memories seem like the catalyst for a lot of musicians, often generating some pretty stunning results. One such artist that fits this category is Roderick Smith, the brainchild behind four-piece North Arm, who has used childhood experiences to create some pretty gorgeous music over the past couple of years.
North Arm itself is named after North Arm Cove, a holiday destination Smith's family used to frequent when he was young. This thirst for simpler times is present on his latest single "Hollow Days." His nostalgia is represented well in the song's makeup, which is brimming with dreamy soundscapes and euphoric choruses, while the reverbed vocals cap off a track reminiscent of work from bands like Doves and the War on Drugs.
I've been completely enthralled by this track, and am very excited to hear what's to come from North Arm.
