No matter how good an original track may sound, I am always up to listen to a remix. Personally I think it is great hearing someone else’s rendition, as you never know what they might come up with. In this particular case, South African-born producer/DJ Nora En Pure rallied up her German colleague Lexer to take on her song "True."
The result? One catchy tune.
While the original itself has a slightly heavier feeling to it, featuring a strong piano and soulful vocals, Lexer chose to switch it up a bit and put the focus mainly on the vocals, looping them throughout the track. It is exactly this that makes it so catchy and gives it a fresh vibe -- something you would play while chilling outside with friends.
I will be seeing Lexer spin at a party in Amsterdam, April 27, when the entire country will go out and have fun due to Kingsday. Having seen him multiple times before, I know I am in for a treat.
He also released a project recently, called Nowhere Else, which has some really cool tracks on it. You can stream the album on SoundCloud, or find it on iTunes.
