It's work to find new talent, especially in hip-hop. So many people sound like other people sounding like someone else. It sucks. Most 'tastemaker' websites, except the one you're reading now, suck. Thankfully there's a few good ones amidst the crap, like the good people at WatchLOUD who created a useful beginners guide to Noname Gypsy and introduced me to this vibrant young voice coming out of Chicago.
"Open Apology" speaks for itself. Gypsy's spoken word roots help her have a solid foundation as a musician. Her morose performance invites you to listen closer. She has lines that are razor sharp in her one-verse performance.
I'm intrigued. Telefone is the name of her next project, out sometime soon.
