Why do we like this?
It's a weekday in the city and rain is falling hard, but you can't get enough of it. There couldn't be a better song than Nomenclature's 2016 single to soothe away any evening confusion.
The faded and compressed synth takes me straight to Noname's debut album Telefone, but stripped of all its vocals. It's lo-fi, and it's not. It's almost teasing us with its instrumentation.
While it's over a year old, its eclectic synthwave feel harkens to the emerging niche that recent R&B singers seem to be filling with their soulful voices. As soon as the drums kick in and the melody starts getting hacked up and rearranged, the minimalism waves goodbye. I feel interstellar, and I can't get enough.
