I'm not a fan of much by way of lo-fi shoegazey stuff, but this one's crawled under my skin, and I've fallen in love with it.
Noire is an upcoming act out of Sydney, and "Baby Blue" is their latest single. It hazily combines that slow moving, washed-out feel with a husky melody and a brooding, bluesy tone.
Jessica Mincher's slinky vocals sail by, as though lazily pushed by a gentle breeze atop the slowly swinging rhythm. The instrumental layers are warm and welcoming - it's really easy to enjoy listening to this track.
"Baby Blue" features on Noire's debut EP, inspired by everything from Allen Ginsberg to Coppola films to Air. The five-track release comes out on September 18, produced by Wayne Connolly (Silverchair, Youth Group, The Vines).
