Costumes! Colors! Dancing! Multimedia art collective NewVillager recently released their new music video/single "Lighthouse," and it's all sorts of deliciousness.
NewVillager is a self-described "new pop" group based out of Brooklyn and San Francisco that sounds like "a mix of Michael Jackson and the Beatles" (self-described). Imagine their sound as a sugar overloaded child running around a playground after a long bout of rain. Make sense? Well, it doesn't really have to! Just know that it's high energy and psychedelically playful.
Comprised of Ben Bromley and Ross Simonini, the duo have been around since 2006 and are signed with IAMSOUND. They have toured with Sunset Rubdown and played SXSW. Combining performances with films, lectures, drawings, books, you name it, the two are trying to translate music and art into what they call "the NewVillager mythology" -- a sharing of myths from different cultures in order to find, expand and ultimately enjoy shared themes.
Check out their 2009 7" Rich Doors on their Myspace and expect big things from their possible upcoming full-length. Don't forget to check out the artistically awesome video below:
