Everybody has a bucket list filled with ridiculous schemes and adventures, as with some fairly normal things too. Skydiving for example— I imagine that's a pretty common one. Well, when Cinco De Mayo rolled around this year, I decided to take the bull by its horns and scratch some stuff off of my bucket list.

Nest HQ, Jukely, Ham On Everything, IHEARTCOMIX, and Free Grilled Cheese decided to team up with OWSLA for a party this Cinco, and early that Thursday I caught word of it. Call me grandiose, but the first thoughts that rolled through my mind were "Hm… Free Grilled Cheese? I want all of it."

After the struggle of getting into the event, I made my rounds, grabbed some Red Bull, ate some tacos, watched a mariachi band for a little, and waited for things to get a bit rowdy. Once things were starting to pop, and Oshi hopped on the decks, I slid back towards the Free Grilled Cheese tent and investigated the perimeter.

the love of my life

I've never really believed in love at first sight, at least not until I saw the succulent beauty of an entire wheel of baby swiss cheese. You could say it was my moment of clarity. When I laid my eyes upon that young cheese wheel, it felt like the world around me paused, and a heavenly voice told me I must acquire it and share it with the partygoers. It was like that moment in Field Of Dreams where Ray hears the voice telling him to build a baseball field, except I think mine was satan telling me things were about to get weird.

If you're sitting there wondering what you would even see at a secret OWSLA party, imagine a crowd of people wearing an extreme amount of black clothing, a lot of folks with colored hair, the occasional strange pair of footwear, and most importantly, some of the best artists in dance music. All in one night, I was extremely fortunate to witness sets from Aryay, Softest Hard, Oshi, DJ 4B, Wiwek, and Getter, which ended up being a surprise B2B set with Skrillex.

Some kid in the crowd mistook the wheel for a brick of cocaine, asked for a bump, realized it was cheese, asked for a slice, pulled out his phone to Snapchat the cheese, and went back to dancing. It's weird enough that I was walking around the function with an excessive amount of swiss, but what's really weird to me is that security didn't once stop me and tell me to stop feeding people.

Ultimately, I got to see some really dope music, eat some free food, take a lot of photos with a shitty disposable camera, meet some incredible people, and dance so hard that I twisted my ankle. Somehow I even managed to squeeze my way backstage for a bit of Wiwek's set.

By the end of the night, I was five Red Bulls deep, my stomach was filled with dairy, and it was kind of hard not to feel like a king.
