Always one to push boundaries and branch out into as many creative outlets as possible, last year we learnt that Flying Lotus was involved in creating a short film titled FUCKKKYOUUU. The title alone is pretty indicative of the experimental nature of the project - and now it's available for the world to witness.
Directed by Eddie Alcazar, with a score composed by FlyLo, the film debuted in August 2015 at the Sundance NEXT Fest.
The film, which has been viewed at more than ten film festivals, is far from Flying Lotus' first foray into the medium. In early 2015 he revealed that he was writing a film, and more recently, his collaborative project with bassist Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces (see below,) was inspired by a script he wrote in previous years.
The film is described as follows: "With the ability to travel in time, a lonely girl finds love and comfort by connecting with her past self. Eventually faced with rejection she struggles with her identity and gender, and as time folds onto itself only one of them can remain."
Jarring, unnerving and indisputably "Art House" (dirty words, I know), it's intriguing, it's weird, and definitely NSFW.
