The two surviving members of beloved '90s R&B trio TLC have announced details of their comeback album, which was successfully crowdfunded after the group launched a fundraising campaign last year.
Last year, TLC crowdfunded $430,000 to create their fifth album. This was a staggering success, considering they had only aimed to raise $150,000. The Atlanta-based duo, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, have now revealed more details about their upcoming fifth album, which will be their first since 2002. 3D was released seven months after the death of third member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who was tragically killed in a car crash in Honduras.
Ron Fair, an executive producer tied to the project has hinted that the album will include "old soul music." In an interview with Renman Music & Business Live, he explained, "It's '90s throwback music. It's vintage TLC and I can tell you that their vocals sound exactly the way they did the last time you heard them."
"Their artistic and vocal thing is 100 percent intact so this is gonna become a question of what are they talking about, what are the lyrics, what are the beats they've chosen. And I'm very excited for the world to hear.”
