Hip-hop and R&B super-producer Timbaland has allegedly refused to perform at a charity show which aimed to raise money for those affected by the severe Flint Water Crisis in Flint, Michigan.

Mitchell Jaworski, the promoter who booked Timbaland for the concert, says that his lacklustre attitude was the result of an issue concerning champagne.

Jaworski continued that the club at the concert location did not carry Timbaland’s liquor of choice, Jay-Z’s own Armand de Brignac, and instead presented him with a bottle of Ace of Spades - worth more than $300 per bottle. An unsatisfied Timbo was then offered Dom Perignon, but this too did not suffice.

Jaworski divulged, “They had about 15 bottles of liquor and champagne,” which is already excessive for a charity event, and that Timbaland “seemed more concerned about getting every drop of liquor,” that the performance or event itself.

Apparently, the Opera Noir producer’s contract stated that he was required to DJ for half an hour, and then perform between five and eight songs. Instead, he merely stood on stage and nodded his head to another DJ’s beats. His management defended Timbo by enquiring where the stipulation was for the ‘live’ performance. They went on to say that he “did not feel like” performing and that he was woken up minutes before going on stage.

Despite Timbaland’s head-nodding performance, the charity show raised $3,000 for the residents of Flint.

In related news, Seattle's Pearl Jam recently donated $300,000 to support those affected by the crisis.
