After teasing new material to fans last month with #Shinstagram 2, The Shins have announced their first performance together in three years. The Shins will headline End of the Road Festival this September in Wiltshirt, England, along with Joanna Newsom, Animal Collective and Bat for Lashes.
While unfortunately End of The Road is the band's only scheduled tour date thus far, you can bet the Shins have something more up their collective sleeves. The band has been slyly building hype for their follow up to 2012's Port of Morrow with glimpses of new music in Shinstagrams 1 and 2.
Though the Shins have been relatively quiet since the end of their 2013 tour, frontman Alex Mercer's kept busy. Mercer released a second album, After the Disco, with Danger Mouse as Broken Bells and contributed original music to the Patagonia Documentary 180° South with Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock.
Though details on the Shins' triumphant return are scant, September's still a few months off so here's hoping that we get some more info out of the band before then. Maybe some more Shintagrams? Maybe news on the next album? Check out Shinstagrams 1 and 2 below as well as the full lineup for End of The Road.
