It’s been five long years since The Kill’s last studio album Blood Pressures, but luckily, fans won’t have to wait much longer. On March 1st, the indie rock duo officially confirmed their fifth full-length, entitled Ash & Ice. Set to release on June 3rd, the announcement accompanied the premiere of its first single and music video “Doing It to Death.”
Much anticipation has been built towards the countdown to Ash & Ice, since Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince claim to have totally revamped The Kill's sound. Back in May of 2014, Mosshart told Nashville Scene, “We're trying to make a record that's completely different. Anything that sounds like it could have sat quite easily on any of the other records will probably get scrapped or reworked, played on some kind of different instruments with a completely different kind of rhythm and a completely different kind of feel. That's what takes so long, is trying to break out of the thing that you know and you're good at and trying to get good at something else.”
Ash & Ice tracklist:
1. Doing It To Death 2. Heart of a Dog 3. Hard Habit to Break 4. Bitter Fruit 5. Days of Why and How 6. Let it Drop 7. Hum for your Buzz 8. Siberian Nights 9. That Love 10. Impossible Tracks 11. Black Tar 12. Echo Home 13. Whirling Eye
