The Temper Trap have announced their return with their third studio release entitled Thick as Thieves.
The long awaited new record will be released on 10th June, and will be the band’s first album in four years. To accompany the announcement they have also revealed a new single “Fall Together” to tide fans over while they wait for the 11-track effort.
Just last month Temper Trap emerged out of the wilderness with their first piece of new music since 2012. The Melbourne outfit released the title track "Thick as Thieves" along with a message to all of their fans on their Facebook page.
“It’s been a long while coming but it’s finally time to let some of this music we’ve been working on out into the world! Thick as Thieves is a little sneak peek to get your earholes tingling for the upcoming record,” they wrote.
“A lot has happened since the last album and those experiences, loves, desires, and struggles are distilled in these songs. It’s a new beginning.”
Dougy Mandagi, front man of the band, recently talked to Triple J where he explained the reasons for why the record took so long and what to expect from the new songs.
“We actually wanted to make a guitar record… It’s been somewhere between two and a half, three years. That's writing and obviously recording and everything. Sometimes it was ok, sometimes it was a bit trying but you know nothing good comes easy we just had to keep at it. We didn't put it out until it was right, 'til we felt right,” he said.
