It has been a rewarding eight months for Perth, Australia's Tame Impala since the release of third album, Currents, back in July of 2015. After being nominated for Best Alternative Album last week at the Grammys, Kevin Parker, the mastermind behind the group, flew up to London in anticipation of their nomination for Best International Group at this year's Brit Awards.
Under the persona of Tame Impala (which is now considered more of a solo project than a band,) Parker has taken the world of psych rock by storm since the release of Innerspeaker in 2010 and the critically-acclaimed Lonerism in 2012.
In accepting the award for Currents, Parker was almost speechless. “Oh wow, this is amazing, truly. It’s pretty amazing to be invited to your award ceremony, to this night, let alone be given an award to accept,” he said.
Last year's release seems to have catapulted Tame Impala into the spotlight, with Rihanna recently covering "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" in her latest album, ANTI, re-named "Same Ol' Mistakes."
Tame Impala is set to embark on a world tour starting in March. You can check out tickets at their main website here.
